I like 2 things when I'm not working as a waitress in the Chicago Flaventino night club: internet and poker. And it's became obvious to me that I should combine them together and with a little help of my boyfriend Jack I have created this site. Here I shall teach you how not be a complete loser when playing poker. You should know at least the basic rules and hints to play with your friends or in the neighbourhood poker rooms.

The object of every poker variant is to obtain the best combination of cards from the hole cards and community cards. Here we give the poker hands rankings from the the best to worst one. To describe the examples of all cards combinations we used these shortenings: H - Hearts, C - Clubs, S - Spades, D - Diamonds, K - King, A - Ace, Q - Queen, J - Jack.

Royal Flush is considered to be the best hand which is the straight flush (the sequence of five cards with one suit) from Ace to ten: AC, KC, QC, JC, 10C.

Straight Flush is five cards in succession from the same suit. For instance: QD, JD, 10D, 9D, 8D.

Four of a Kind is the hand of four cards of the same rank. The suit isn’t taken into consideration. For instance: 8S, 8D, 8C, 8H, AH.

Full House is the hand that contains three cards of the same value and two other cards from another rank no matter the suit. For example: KS, KD, 5S, 5D, 5C.

Flush contains five cards with one suit. For instance: JC, KC, 7C, 4C, 9C.

Straight has five cards in sequence no matter the suit. The Ace can be counted as the weakest or strongest card. For example: 6S, 7D, 8C, 9C, 10H.

Three of a Kind is the hand that contains three cards of the same rank. The cards suit doesn’t matter. For instance: KD, KC, KH, 8S, 2C.

Two Pair is poker hand which has two cards with the same rank and two cards with another value. In Two Pair hands the suit doesn’t matter. For example: 7C, 7H, 9S, 9D, JH.

One Pair is poker hand which consists of two cards from the same rank. For example: 8D, 8S, 7S, 5H, 2H.

High Card is the hand that doesn’t contain any of the mentioned above cards combinations. The rank of High Card hand is determined by the strongest card. For instance: AH, QC, JD, 9S, 5C.

All these hands can have other names depending on the area where you play poker or also according to the gambling slang.

Nobody is always a winner, and anybody who says he is, is either a liar or doesn't play poker.
